News Release: 14th Annual SkiTAM Set for April 9-12, 2009, in Vail, Colorado
Denver, CO -- (November 12, 2008) SkiTAM 2009, the signature fundraiser for the U.S. Disabled Ski Team (USDST) hosted by CTAM of the Rocky Mountains, will be held April 9-12, 2009 in Vail, Colorado. SkiTAM 2009 will mark the 14th annual hosting of the event, which is widely supported throughout the cable industry and provides more than half of the US Disabled Ski Team’s annual budget. In addition to its annual donations to the team, SkiTAM operates the Athlete Partnership Program (APP). The program’s industry sponsors enable USDST coaches to provide performance incentives and additional financial support to team members.
Earlier this year, SkiTAM established a $1 million endowment fund for the USDST. The fund, which will be managed by a board of directors assembled under the auspices of the United States Ski Association (USSA), will help to ensure ongoing funding for the Team and to foster development programs for disabled skiers across the country.
“Thanks to the industry’s support, we have come a long way in 14 years, from helping the team avoid bankruptcy to helping to ensure its success well in the future,” said SkiTAM Co-Chair Steve Raymond, senior vice president of national accounts for Disney and ESPN Networks’ Affiliate Sales and Marketing unit, one of the founders of the event in 1995.
“Recent research has shown that SkiTAM continues to rank as one of the industry’s best values in terms of charitable support for a deserving organization,” added Co-Chair Joe Rooney, Chief Marketing Officer for Cox Communications. “Thanks to the personal dedication of our SkiTAM Steering Committee, dozens of volunteers and a broad base of industry sponsors, SkiTAM is one of the industry’s highest-rated opportunities for building business relationships and supporting some of the most inspiring athletes that anyone could ever meet.”
